Film Inspiration: The Great Gatsby

I may be jumping on the bandwagon here, but I am ridiculously excited for release of the latest incarnation of 'The Great Gatsby', which is due to come out at the end of this year. I'm sure you've all heard about the Baz Luhrmann helmed movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan & Tobey Maguire.
I loved the book, and cannot wait to these actors portray the characters of Jay, Daisy & Nick. I'm also particularly excited about the fashion which will be shown, and cannot wait to see what visionary delights Luhrmann has in store for this.
The first trailer for the movie has been released, and in my humble opinion, it looks like it's going to be one of best movies of this year.
To get you 'in the mood' for this cinematic treat, I've scoured the internet for some images from the trailer and other fashion inspiration images involving this era to wet your appetite!

I think I'm definitely going to make a 1920's inspired piece, possibly some kind of sheer blouse, with pleats, or maybe some sparkle? Are you excited for this film? Have you read the book?

Things I Love Thursday: Alexander McQueen

Who doesn't love Alexander McQueen? Seriously?
I'm personally a bigger fan of the accessories than the clothing, especially the skull clutches.

How badass is that white clutch with the bones?

Things I Love Thursday: Miu Miu

Miu Miu is one of my favourite fashion labels around at the moment. I love the hints of decades past in their designs, such as the 1960's peter pan collars & mini skirts, and the 1940's crepe dresses and shoulder gathers.

Mary Jane Pump £365

Glitter Peep Toes £400

Cady Tunic Dress £1,180

Tunic Dress £690

Cady miniskirt £480

Jacket £845

Granite Double-Breasted Coat £1,250
I've come to the realisation that I will never be able to afford anything of theirs (unless I get a winning lottery ticket) but that doesn't stop me looking. In a way their designs are quite classic & simple to recreate if you know how.

As much as I love their clothes & prints I have to say I'm not a fan of the handbags, mainly due to the materials they use (goatskin, wild boar skin, various animal furs). However as with most fashion houses this is sadly a common occurance.

Old Hollywood Inspiration Pt. 3

This time it's the turn of the iconic Ginger Rogers.

One half of the most the well known & most loved dancing duo, I grew up around musicals since my mum was a huge fan, and Fred & Ginger films were some of her favourite.
Swing Time, Top Hat, Carefree, The Barkleys of Broadway, Shall We Dance, Follow the Fleet are to name a few of her films

Ginger wears the most amazing & elegant gowns in these films. Don't you just wish sometimes that you could click your fingers and your wardrobe would be full of outfits like these?

I LOVE this one!

Who's your favourite old hollywood actress?
